Your result
Fill in your three numbers. Your result shows up here as you type.
These numbers don’t add up to real days. Check for a typo, and use at least 4 weeks.
kcal a day
The math
- You ate
- Your real burn
- Digesting food, not in a watch’s count
- What your watch should show
- Your watch
A rough check, not a lab test. Water can move your weight a pound or two from day to day, and missed snacks, drinks, or cooking oil make your watch look worse than it is. Use at least 4 weeks of steady logging.
HOW IT WORKS
How your food and weight show your burn.
-
Food in, weight out
What you don’t burn, your body stores, and when you eat less, it draws on the store: about 7,700 kcal a kilogram (3,500 a pound). So 4 weeks of food and weight show what you really burned.
-
Digestion comes out
Digesting food burns about 10% of what you eat. It’s part of your real burn, but not of a watch’s active or resting energy, so the check takes it out to compare like with like.
-
An honest margin
Water can move a weigh-in by about 2 lb (1 kg). Over 4 weeks, that’s about 275 kcal a day either way, so a smaller gap counts as about right.
